Week 8

In the lecture we learnt about databases and cloud computing. We learnt how databases and relationships with database worked. We then learnt about sheets software and computing. Then in the seminar we did Access 2010 and understanding relational databases and also did some group work for our coursework.

Week 7

In the lecture we learnt about enhancing business inelegance and using IS. First of all we learnt how businesses understood big data as this was the first step. We then learnt about the threats and opportunities to the business and continuous planning. Then we learnt the different systems and databases that businesses use in order to remain efficient. Then in the seminar we learnt how to use pivot tables in excel which allowed us to handle tables and calculations. Then we got in our groups to discuss our coursework. 

Week 6

In the lecture we learnt about core business processes. This included OCP and PPP as well as MSP and MOP which all show the process of a good. Then we learnt about supply chains and organizational chains which show how a business is run. Then for the seminar we learnt about call referencing and used excel for this. Also in the seminar we did some group work for our assignment.

Week 5

In the lecture we learnt about managers, leaders and leadership. We learnt the roles and responsibilities of a manager and also theories such as theory x and y which teachers what management style you should have. We then learnt about leaderships and their traits and the gender and ethics.
In the seminar we discussed as a class the case study we are doing. This helped everyone understand what they are doing and enabled us as a group to come up with more idead. We then dicussed as a group what ideas we should commit to and then delegated an idea to each perosn. We then had to research the ideas in detail.

Week 4

This week in the lecture we leant about servers, hardware, system software and web domains.I learnt how these affected large business and why they are needed for a business to become successful. In the lecture we also watched a video on Googles servers and how they have thousands of servers on just one floor. I found interesting the way that Google use water in order to keep their servers cool.
In the seminar we got given a worksheet to complete. The work sheet was of different questions and data which we had to put into an excel spreadsheet in the form of tables.

Week 3

In the lecture a lady came in who owned a business and told us the problems in which she is facing as a start up business. We have then been giving the task to find solutions to her problems on a budget.
In the seminar we answered questions that we were given the week before in a group. Once this was completed we then formed into groups that we made the week previosly. We had to come up with a business name and we exchanged numbers so we could keep in contact outside of uni. We then spent some time doing formulas on Excel.

Week 2

In the second week of this module we learnt about businesses in the digital world.We learnt how it can be both an advantage to a firm and also a disadvantage. We learnt the progression of business through the digital age and how this compared to when the internet wasnt avaliable.
In the seminar I learnt how to use Excel properly and how to create a spreadsheet. We used formulas which when certain boxes are changed the formula automatically updates.
